HIKING -- Mountain Gingilos

 Exploring Mountain Gingilos

It was one amazing day in mountain Gingilos.

About 7 am we drove up from Vamos (Bjorn and me) to Xyloskalo , to reach the summit of Gingilos mountain 2040 m altitude.

It was a though hike, taking us after 2 hours to the saddle. Surrounded by mountain goats (Capra aegagrus cretica) , and griffon vultures or bearded vultures (gyps fulvus or gypaetus barbatus) , it's a special scenery there at this dry habitat isolated in the mountain.

From there on, one hour more is needed over spiky rocks ito reach he final summit. There the view is astonishing.

This water bassin is collecting fresh spring water, to fill up your water bottles.

HIKING -- Kollita Gorges - Vilandredo and Mountros

A fenomal Adventure in Kollita Gorge

I started that day with the Mountros gorge, parking in Mountros village. 
The gorge is about 3.5km, it ends up in the village of Velonado. The start is difficult, climbing over big rocks in the riverbed, after 0.5km it appears a hiking path at the left side easing the conditions.

After arriving in Velonado, I headed westward to the entrance of a twin gorge, parallel orientated, starting in Vilandredo.

The second part moves northwards starting in Vilandredo. The Vilandredo gorge is 3.5 km long and has high cliffs up to 50m and incredible caves. He is more impressing to be honest !

Trees of this sizes of diameters aren't typical for the island, but nevertheless..
