Samaria Gorge
A couple of conditions had to be fullfilled, I had to organise day off from my job, with weather feasible for hiking in Samaria etc....
I had luck that day 12 september to make this 16 km beautiful hike !

We speak here about the Zelkova tree - originated Himalayas -; Taraxarum bithynicum -eatable wild lettuce-, Chicorium Spinosium or - Spiny Chicorey - ; toxic Dragon Aurum or Dragons Wort _Dranunculus Vulgaris ...
Start and entrance.
After arrival in Omalos for pitstop , departure Xyloskalo.
Some fence protect our heads for falling rocks after the first 200m.

We take the boat back to Chora Sfakia and from there a bus drives us straight to Giorgioupouilis ...

This is the main village; has a lot of the ibex - Wild Goats -

Sidero Portes
After the last small shelters ; Metamorfosi, Kefalovrysia ... ze arrive at the Sidero Portes , a small passage - 4 m - wide . Astonishing place but walk fast to avoid falling rocks on your head ...
Agia Roumeli
The endpoint; close to the sea. Some locals try to rip you off and make you buy local expensive honey and juice - sugar bombs to avoid definitely -
Lybian sea is waiting for us with some tavernas, one Venetian fort and few rural houses just before the city.
We take the boat back to Chora Sfakia and from there a bus drives us straight to Giorgioupouilis ...
